Positive; this is the first time a crew of a Soviet/Russian spaceship to have an American call sign. Artemyev, Faustel and Arnold agreed about this considering their love for travels and that Hawaii are in the middle between Russia and the US (?), as per Artemyev statement on the press conference.
Mostly cosmonauts use names of the trees, rivers, birds, mountains and celestial bodies.
An exception was also Yurchikhin’s call sign “Olymp (his mother is a Greek from Crymea).

Yes. Oleg and his crewmates chose “Hawaii” as a call sign after discussing their various travels together, according to NASA PAO.

An early version of the crew patch included the Soyuz flying over Hawaii and a hand could be seen through the window of the Soyuz giving the “hang loose” or shaka sign.

And Ricky Arnold’s chosen zero-g indicator was a hula girl doll.

Artemyev's call sign was given as 'gavayi',
is that Russian for 'Hawaii'?
